I have been wearing Birkinstocks for over twenty years and a few have lasted that long and are still kicking. The heal wears down a bit on the foot that pushes in on the gas pettle so you may have to replace the rubble soles which cost me $20.00 to do so. You could put a plastic heal clip on the heals or just take the shoe off when you drive. Other than that I swear by these shoes especially for lower back pain and arch issues. When I wear these show consistently my lower back doesn't hurt.

These are great sandals and so comfortable. Wasn't sure on the size. According to the sizing chart, 38 is 7-7.5 and 39 is 8-8.5 (and my size is 7.5-8). I ordered a 38. I thought they might be too short, however, when they began molding to my feet, they "sink" into the sole and the length seems right. Would be helpful to have info on what size to order when your feet are "in between sizes." Antique Indigo-great name, great color, and works w/everything! Thank you.
